Moving configuration from test to production server
Here are the steps we have for moving an installation.
Make sure that both installations are working and are using the same license type (MS, MI, or MJ). You cannot move from one license type to another.
Open the data folder on the installation you want to copy the data from:
Make a copy of the following files:
MssFindXX.cfg (language specific cfg files where XX is two letter language codes)
MssFindPreviewXX.cfg (language specific cfg files where XX is two letter language codes)
MssLangXX.cfg(language specific cfg files where XX is two letter language codes)
MssSetupXX.cfg (language specific cfg files where XX is two letter language codes)
Open the following files and adjust the path to match the path of the new searchost data folder and location of the Instance executables.
The paths should begin like this.
NB: be sure to keep double backslashes.
5: Open MssInstall.cfg and change the license code on the top line to the License code of the installation you are moving the configuration to.
Go to pincode.mondosearch.com and get a new pincode for the license you are moving and then enter that pincode in the MssInstall.cfg file near the bottom of the cfg file.
Open the MssDyn.cfg and clear the password field and set the date value into the future.
Change the following line in the MssInstall.cfg file to match your new searchhost:
Copy the cfg files into the target installations SearchhostData folder, overwriting the old ones (it’s a good idea to take a back up first).
Open a command prompt and drag the MsmSetup executable from the InstancePublicexec folder on it. Make a space and drag the MssInstall.cfg file from the SearchhostData folder onto the command prompt.
This should update the registry key.
The command should look something like this:
C:Documents and SettingsAdministrator>C:MondoSearchInstancesPublicexecMsm
Open the insite on the destination installation and enter your userid. Hit change password and enter a new password.
Log into MondoSearch insite http://*searchhost*/insite
It should work now :)
Be sure to recrawl before using the search as databases cannot be moved to installations with different licenses.
